The wrinkles treated with Botox® are the ones that stand out because they’re deep and they tend to do more than make you look older. They also create the impression that you’re continuously angry or sad. Marcea Wiggins, ND, and the team at SANTÉ Aesthetics & Wellness are experts in cosmetic injectables. They artfully inject Botox in precise muscles, rejuvenating your appearance while keeping your natural beauty and maintaining normal facial expressions. What is Botox?
Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin that’s injected to produce cosmetic and medical results. When your doctor at SANTÉ Aesthetics & Wellness injects Botox into facial muscles, it temporarily blocks the nerve signals that make muscles contract.
What facial wrinkles are treated with Botox?
Age-related changes in your skin, such as loss of collagen, thinning skin, and dehydration, cause static wrinkles. The laugh lines and marionette lines that develop around your nose and mouth are examples of static wrinkles.
You also develop another type of wrinkle over time. These wrinkles, called dynamic wrinkles, occur as you repeatedly use the same muscles to make facial expressions like frowning.
Botox effectively treats dynamic wrinkles. After your provider at SANTÉ Aesthetics & Wellness injects Botox, the muscles relax, and their associated wrinkles are significantly diminished or eliminated.
The wrinkles treated by Botox include:
- Crow’s feet
- Frown lines
- Forehead furrows
- Neck bands
You can still make natural facial expressions following a Botox treatment because your doctor only injects a few carefully targeted muscles.
What should I expect during and after Botox treatment?
Before your Botox treatment, your provider at SANTÉ Aesthetics & Wellness explains the procedure and answers your questions, so you’ll know what to expect. You’ll also talk about whether you want a topical anesthetic to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure.
Botox sessions typically take about 10 minutes, depending on the area being treated. It’s normal for injection sites to be a little red, swollen, or bruised for a short time. Meanwhile, you can cover them with makeup.
You can get back to your daily routine as soon as your session is finished. However, you should avoid strenuous activities for a few hours.
When will I see results after Botox injections?
It takes about 24-48 hours before Botox relaxes the targeted muscles, then your rejuvenated appearance lasts up to four months.* Botox gradually wears off, but you can get another round of injections as soon as your results fade. In fact, results tend to last longer with future injections.
If you’re ready to restore a more youthful appearance by diminishing moderate-to-severe dynamic wrinkles, schedule an appointment to learn about Botox. Use the online booking feature or call SANTÉ Aesthetics & Wellness.
*Individual results may vary.
