When you go in for your session, ultrasound gel is applied to your skin, then the smooth ultrasound applicator is placed against your skin. After checking the imaging system to determine the tissues to target, your doctor turns on the device to send the ultrasound deep beneath your skin.
Your session lasts 45 minutes – 4 hours, depending on the part of your body being treated. Your skin may appear slightly red or flushed, and some patients develop mild swelling, but none of the side effects are serious, and you won’t need to plan downtime.
You may notice an immediate tightening effect right after your Ultherapy session, as the existing collagen naturally contracts from the heat. However, it takes time to regenerate collagen and elastin. Your changes appear gradually with optimal results visible in two to three months.
